This stunning vacation home located on southern Crete beckons you to embrace the epitome of Mediterranean living.

The new stone house “Casa Aurelia” is located in a small village on the Libyan Sea in southern Crete. It offers space for 10 people. The house has two apartments with separate entrances, both 60 sqm. Each apartment has a spacious kitchen-living room with a pull-out sofa, two bedrooms and a bathroom with shower. The living rooms are equipped with air conditioning.

There are two large furnished and covered terraces, one on the ground floor and one on the roof with sea views, plus a garden.

The beach with coarse sand can be reached on foot in about 7 minutes. There are beach cafes and loungers. There are many taverns and several supermarkets in the village.

The kitchen is equipped with an electric oven, fridge, coffee machine, toaster and is fully equipped with cooking utensils. A washing machine is also available. Bed linen and bath towels are available.

The village is approximately 60 km from Heraklion Airport. A rental car is recommended. Alternatively, you can also take a taxi.
Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed.
The house is not barrier-free.
The minimum rental period is 3 days.

The price for an overnight stay starts at €70 per night, depending on the season and the number of guests.

Crete, the largest and most populous of the Greek islands, is a fascinating destination that offers a rich tapestry of history, culture, and natural beauty. Crete boasts a diverse landscape, ranging from rugged mountains and gorges to pristine beaches and fertile valleys. The Balos Lagoon are renowned for their turquoise waters and pink-hued sands.

Also the Island offers ample opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts, exploring the Dikti Mountains, rock climbing, caving, and water sports like sailing, windsurfing, and scuba diving in the crystal-clear waters.

The south of Crete is the perfect destination for the ones seeking a calmful and authentic Cretan culture outside of mass tourism. Crete is well known for beautiful sandy beaches and deserted, picturesque bays which is a dream for the ones enjoying a swim in the sea. With its versatile landscapes, Crete offers various hiking tracks while numerous museums, archaeological cities and monasteries are a paradise for the ones interested in culture. Here are some destinations and sights that are in proximity to the holiday house:

Beaches:

  • Listis Beach: one of the most beautiful beaches in the area.
  • Chrisi Island: organized boat tours from Ierapetra.
  • Matala: known for the caves inhabited by hippies in the seventies.
  • Agia Galini: small coastal village known for its picturesque location. From there, excursion boats go to the palm beach of Preveli.

Hiking:

  • Lassithi plateau in the Dikti Mountains: known for its countless wind turbines.
  • Rouvas Gorge: challenging hike 550 meters altitude about three hours from Lake Zaros.
  • Cha Canyon in Monastiraki: The gorge is between two and eight meters wide and up to 700 meters high. For hiking or demanding climbing.

Archeological sides, Museumes and Monasteries:

  • Palace of Knossos and Palace of Phaistos: Minoan archaeological site 3000 BC.
  • The Cretaquarium-Thalassocosmos: one of the largest aquariums in Europe.
  • Kritsa Monastery: Cretan-Byzantine frescoes from the 13th century. The charming little town of Agios Nikolaos is just 10 km away.
  • Nikos Kazantzakis Museum: provides insights into the life and work of the Crete-born writer, author of the famous film novel Alexis Zorbas.
  • The archaeological museum and the historical museum in Heraklion.
